[ Introduction of Baseball in the THAMES VALLEY ]

THAMES VALLEY BISONS
Baseball has been played in the Reading area for many Years, between 1985 and 1995 Reading had 3 different teams playing regular Baseball in the British Baseball Federation Leagues.
The first team in 1985 were called the Reading Vikings Baseball Club, in 1987 the name of the club was changed to Reading Royals Baseball Club and this lasted for 4 Years when a new club was formed as Reading Bulldogs Baseball Club.
The club then went into decline for a year or so and then came back to rejoin the BBF South as Reading Royals in 1993 under a new management committee hosted by Paul Merrifield, Chris Brooks, Brian Joslyn and Fraizer Kirk, the club played in the BBF South div 2 and div 1 for 3 Years between 1993 and 1995.
Since 1995 Reading did not have one team to compete in the British Baseball League and therefore most players joined up with Bracknell, Windsor and some of the London based teams between 1996 and 2004.
There is more information about the History of Baseball in Reading on the History Page, also there are details about Baseball in Wokingham during the early 1980s.
